Life is Chaotic and Messy

I am not even going to begin to tackle the issues are nation is facing right now. I want to focus on you, yes you! I don’t know what your current circumstance is, but I am praying for you. Whatever it is that you are facing, overcoming, or believing for I stand with you. When we are in the battle or even in the waiting Satan tries to overtake our minds with anxieties. We can’t let him win, so we have to take action….

4 Ways to Calm Anxiety with Christ

1. Don’t Be Ashamed

How many of you have heard a preacher preach on Philippians 4? Around verse 6, of that chapter it says “do not be anxious about anything.” How many of you have heard someone say: “Christians should not have anxiety”? Those words use to bring me more anxiety and so much shame. I remember praying and asking God, “Why am I still anxious? Am I not saved enough yet? How can I be a better Christian to get rid of my anxiety?”

Through a lot of prayer, I realized the scripture in Philippians was not shaming me or claiming my anxieties weren’t real. Rather it was encouraging me that God is near. God offers his people peace. God wants to protect us from continual anxiety and the damages it can cause.

We have to take steps to work toward finding his peace. Start that process not focusing on your current situation/desire/need, but rather take time to thank God for what he has already done and what he is doing behind the scenes.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s Peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

AMEN! Thank you Jesus!

2. Be Still and Know

Psalm 46:10 – He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Exodus 14:13 – “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Take a minute to let that soak in, the Lord is fighting for YOU! You are not in your current circumstance alone, God is with you and fighting for you. He is a God of miracles and he works all things to his good. When you begin to feel anxiety overtaking, just Be Still and Know. Know that God is for you and with you. The peace that brings is incredible.

3. Surrender Control

Guys, I am saying this one to myself just as loud if not louder than I am to you. SURRENDER your current circumstance to Christ. Why is this so hard for us to do? We have no control over it, so why do we cling so tightly to the burden of our situations?

Proverbs 19:22 says, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

I need all the praise hands for that. HE ALREADY HAS A PLAN. Ahhh…that is so so important in calming anxiety! You don’t see it yet, but his outcome is on the horizon and it is better than you even imagined. Power of yet and power of his timing.

4. Pray & Believe

So now you have stopped being ashamed, thanked God for his blessings, took the time to Be Still, and you have decided to surrender it to God. Now just pray and believe. Tell God your need and believe that his plan will come full circle. Don’t stop with one prayer, keep praying and believing. Invite your close prayer warriors to pray with you.

Don’t give up. Your anxiety does not define you. Start the process of finding peace in the waiting.

With Love,

T

Heavenly Father,

I don’t know their circumstance. I don’t even know who is reading this Lord, but you do. You are the author of their story. God renew their mind and heart. God allow them the strength to surrender their current situation to you. Give them comfort in knowing you are Lord and they are not alone. Allow them to see and feel your great love and peace like never before. In your name, I demand the enemy loosen his grip on their life. Chains of anxiety, doubt, and fear be broken. I pray your overwhelming and explainable peace be found. I pray your will be done in this person’s current circumstance. As they wait, God I pray love and protect over them.

In Jesus Holy Name,

Amen
